Dear Friends and Family of Holden Christian Academy,
I love to tell the story of the miracle that is HCA. You see, I am a witness. I saw our school go from seed to sprout to the mature, fruit-bearing garden that it is now. Back around 1992, we had a small group that was committed to an idea. Families that wanted to impart their faith and values to their children needed a school that was in harmony with their home and church. We formed a committee of members from area churches. The pastor and elders of Holden Chapel were enthusiastic and offered their building. We met and prayed, but we had no one who was able to give us a clear vision of how to proceed. Then God miraculously sent us Susan Hayward and Susan Caron. They had been researching and praying on their own. They had a vision and a plan, but no building.
“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” 1 Corinthians 3:6-7
As Paul says, it takes many people to contribute time, talent, and treasure, but it is God who makes things grow. And grow it has! I saw walls knocked down to turn 3 small rooms into 2 big classrooms both downstairs and upstairs. I saw the back of the gym closed in to make the science classroom and the library. I saw an empty field turned into a playground and a soccer field. I have watched HCA develop a curriculum that is awesome. I have witnessed so many happy children grow with a love of learning and of God. I have seen so many teachers and staff who make a huge sacrifice to work and teach in a Christian school. I have witnessed the successful transition to the second generation of school administration. And of course, there have been countless friends and family members who have partnered with us by investing financially in the mission of HCA. I am excited to witness even more miraculous growth at HCA, aren’t you?
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21
If you are among those that have contributed to HCA in the past, I thank you for your faithfulness. If you are new to HCA, I urge you to partner with us. Your donations help fill the gap between tuition income and what it truly costs to run a school of this quality. On behalf of the HCA School Committee, I ask you to please prayerfully consider joining in this amazing work with a generous contribution to our annual fund.

The Annual Fund appeal takes place in the late fall and reaches out to all of HCA's family and friends. Proceeds go towards closing "the gap" between what HCA spends to educate children and what HCA takes in through tuition payments. Pledge cards are mailed to all current participants in the HCA annual fund, and we always welcome new supporters of our educational mission.
