HCA has an annual Feed the Need campaign, which is a service-learning fundraiser for our school.  What attracted us to FTN is its global mission and service-oriented process.  We raise money for HCA’s operating expenses, and simultaneously disciple our students in giving.  Funds raised allow our students, staff, and volunteers to pack 10,000 meal kits for refugees annually.  This feed 60,000 individual people!!!  This is a team effort, as HCA faculty and staff partner with families to raise awareness and money for this worthy cause.   

In the fall of 2024, our 105 students & their families, our 30 staff members, and approximately 25 volunteers purchased, packed, and distributed 1,000 meal kits locally here in Massachusetts to a refugee organization called WARM (Welcoming Alliance for Refugee Ministry), and purchased, packed, and shipped 9,000 meals kits to a refugee camp in Bangladesh.  

WORCESTER, MA: HCA is proud to partner with WARM, right in our local community.  WARM exists to build a bridge between the church and our city’s refuges, directly assisting refugees with physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, in partnership with other agencies serving refugees.   Meal kits packed by HCA were  distributed to 1,000 local families.  

BANGLADESH: 9,000 meal kits were purchased, packed, and shipped to the largest refugee camp in Bangladesh.  This translates to 54,000 individual refugees being fed by our students’ efforts.  We partnered with local pastors and relief workers in Bangladesh to get those meals delivered to some of the poorest of the poor, displaced people.  

Our students participated in this packing event, and before ‘the big day’ even had opportunities to learn about refugees, create approximately 75 cards for the local refugees to whom meals were given, and pray for these people who have been displaced from their home country due to war, persecution, and unrest.
